South Shore Foundation announced three new members to their board of directors recently, including Curtis Bryant, Carol Gresham and Phyllis Speer.

The following new board members join eight other current directors of the foundation:

Curtis Bryant served as Flippin Elementary School Principal for 35 years. He is co-owner of the Sports Page athletic store in Flippin, and he recently started a biodiesel business. Bryant fell in love with the area as a child visiting relatives and has lived here for 37 years. He developed a relationship with South Shore through his work with Flippin Schools. “I was flattered when they invited me to be on the board,” Bryant said, noting the foundation’s community and education-minded vision as things that especially interest him. Bryant received his education at Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, CO. He is on the Marion County Family Health Board, the Marion County Nursing Home Board and attends the United Methodist Church in Bull Shoals and the Baptist Church in Flippin. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and traveling with his family.

Carol Gresham has been the Vice Chancellor for Development at Arkansas State University in Mountain Home for three years and has served as a part-time instructor there, as well. She grew up in Mountain Home and returned to the area as an adult in 2000. She became involved with the foundation through her work with ASU. Gresham received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ouachita Baptist University and her Master of Business degree from Capella University. She is active in a number of community organizations and involved in the music programming for her church.

Phyllis Speer is Regional Education Coordinator for the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. She appears regularly on "Arkansas Outdoors" on AETN-TV, where she is well-known for her outdoor recipes. She grew up in southwest Arkansas and is a lifelong Arkansan. She was a 2007 inductee into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame, is a National Committee member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a board member of the Friends of the Norfork National Fish Hatchery. She served previously on the South Shore Foundation Board and sites the environmental and educational impact of the foundation on the local community as her reason for involvement. Her outdoor passion is turkey hunting with a Flintlock, and she also enjoys bow hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping, gardening, knitting, cooking, and reading.
